Dollar General

Rod West is Dollar General’s Executive Vice President of Global Supply Chain. He leads the company’s distribution center operations, transportation, supply chain modernization, and private fleet.

Rod joined Dollar General in 2005 as Vice President, Process Improvement and has held roles of increasing responsibility throughout his 18 years of Serving Others. He has led initiatives in supply chain, finance, merchandising, operations and store development, including the strategic design and full implementation of the DG Fresh initiative from 2019 to 2021. Rod’s considerable internal knowledge can be attributed to the various leadership roles he has held during his tenure including, Vice President of Perishables Growth and Development and most recently as Senior Vice President of Distribution.

Rod has nearly 30 years of supply chain and retail operations experience with extensive knowledge in strategy development, implementation and process improvement. Prior to joining Dollar General, he held several roles with Kurt Salmon Associates where he oversaw the transformation of store operations, led the launch of new product lines and services and increased inventory productivity for numerous clients in the retail and consumer products space.

Rod earned his Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from Clark Atlanta University and his Bachelor of Industrial Engineering from Georgia Tech. He earned his Master of Business Administration from the Goizueta School of Business at Emory University. Additionally, Rod serves on the Board of Directors for the Dollar General Literacy Foundation and is a former executive sponsor of the Company’s African American Employee Resource Group.
