Heather Hughes brings more than two decades of experience to Walgreens, where she has been a dedicated team member since 2000. Currently serving as the Group Vice President and General Merchandise Manager for the Health, Wellness and Advanced Care divisions, Heather is instrumental in delivering tailored health and well-being solutions, positioning Walgreens as the premier destination for both acute and chronic customer needs. Recognized for her outstanding contributions, Heather was honored as one of the 50 most influential women in retail by Mass Market Retailers (MMR) from 2020 to 2024.

Heather's journey with Walgreens began after earning her Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacy from Butler University in 1999. After her tenure in Pharmacy Operations, Heather transitioned to Merchandising in 2004, where she showcased her strategic vision across health and wellness. She is particularly enthusiastic about advancing Proactive Wellness and Women’s Wellness within the company.

Her most meaningful accomplishment is establishing and growing Walgreens’ partnership with Vitamin Angels, providing essential vitamins to pregnant individuals and young children in underserved communities across all 50 U.S. states, Puerto Rico, and globally.

Beyond her impactful contributions within Walgreens, Heather is a passionate advocate for women's leadership. In 2018, she co-founded WE, a collective of women leaders in the retail and healthcare sectors dedicated to mentoring, driving positive change, and empowering future generations.
