Chief Customer Officer, Loblaw Companies
Garry has been Loblaw’s Chief Customer Officer since January 2018. In this role, Garry oversees the journey towards becoming a truly customer centric organization. The customer organization consists of major customer touchpoints across Loblaw: eCommerce which is redefining retail convenience; inspiring control brands that provide exceptional value; the storytelling power of marketing; and enterprise data and insights to better understand our customers.
Prior to his role as CCO, Garry was President of Loblaw’s Market Division, overseeing more than 450 stores including Loblaws, Provigo, Zehrs, Fortinos and T&T. Under his leadership, the Market Division achieved sales and profitability growth year over year, by delivering unique food experiences to customers with quality products and differentiated service. T&T Supermarket, the largest Asian supermarket chain in Canada, has remained in Garry’s portfolio.
Garry joined Loblaw in 2007 as the Senior Vice President of Operations for Western Canada, and spent the following years as Executive Vice President in various areas: No Frills Operations; Grocery Merchandising; Discount Division Operations; and Division Support and Brands. In these roles, Garry shaped the strategy for a new loyalty program, succeeded in improving consistency and standards in stores, and collaboratively worked with vendors to develop customer-focused sales programs.
Prior to joining Loblaw, Garry was the Regional Vice President for Wal-Mart Canada’s Western Operations. Garry spent a number of years at Wal-Mart Germany, where he was the recipient of the Sam Walton Outstanding Performance Award.
In 2015, Garry graduated from Harvard University’s Advanced Management Program, fully immersed with thought leaders and global senior executives in a career development program designed for proven business leaders. In his free time, Garry enjoys playing and watching sports of all types, and spending time with his family and friends.
