Neil Z. Stern specializes in strategic planning and the development of new retail concepts. He prides himself on long-standing relationships and repeat engagements with valued clients, many extending over ten years. Neil leads McMillanDoolittle’s food retail and due diligence sectors. As a food industry expert, Neil has worked across all segments, including supermarkets, convenience stores and foodservice. Key clients have included an impressive mix of large and small food retailers, including Harris Teeter, Price Chopper, Wawa Food Markets, Winn Dixie, McDonald’s Corp., Publix Super Markets, Walmart and Safeway, as well as international companies. Neil is a thought leader and has given dozens of presentations at conferences, internal company meetings and key industry trade groups on food and retail trends domestically and abroad. Neil has been named to Crain’s Chicago Business 40 under 40 list of prominent Chicago business leaders, was named as one of the 40 Rising Stars in Retailing by Chain Store Age and is a regular contributor to Forbes. He has authored two books, Winning at Retail and Greentailing and Other Revolutions in Retail. Neil is an honors graduate of Columbia University and has attended Northwestern’s Kellogg MBA program.
